Roma Theatre Activities in Slovenia
Katarina Košir
The paper investigates the different dialogues of the Roma community with mainstream culture in the field of theatre in Slovenia. In particular it presents the the Slovenian contacts with the Roma theatre Pralipe, which first started in Skopje and later developed into a unique permanent theatre in Europe – one of a kind in both senses of the word. Among other plays, it produced the drama Kalea by Slovenian playwright Dragica Potočnjak. In Slovenia, the active individual Roma cultural associations were initially from Prekmurje. Collaborations have taken place with Roma and non-Roma creators in Ljubljana who wish to contribute to the preservation, development, promotion and integration of the Roma community in Slovenia.
